Good morning friends and happy hump day. Its an exciting time here in Indy with the Super Bowl around the corner, and I cant tell you how crazy its been in what feels to be my immediate orbe. The circle that encompasses my life… the things I witness, that happen to me, happen to those I love, those I dont know but who are an arms distance away, etc. Last week I had one of those weeks, beginning with spilling my mug of coffee ALL over my Mac Book Pro I had purchased back in April. So not even a year old and I insulted my right hand man by spilling the hot java so frivolously, leading to irreperable damages. With that just being the start of the week, many things were just off or going wrong, but even though I joked about it being unlucky- I had to take accountability for my actions, fix what needed to be fixed, even if that meant taking financial dings in my budget. What can ya do though? Own what happened and make sure it doesnt happen again, right? Right!
Even though Im talking/venting about the crazy week I had, I also felt quite fortunate that nothing worse happened, with some of those crazy happenings including medical emergencies/scares from those around me- reminding me that life is a gift and to take nothing for granted. As crazy as things may seem, or as stressed as one may get. I always suggest different tools that may work for you, because its worked for me, or others I know. However, the best advice Ive ever heard is “Take matters of your health into your own hands”. My Uncle and I were discussing the topic of how unique every one person is. Whether its their diets growing up that has led to allergies, conditions they inherited from their parents, injuries they want to prevent or injuries theyve gone through, leading to OTHER injuries later in life. All these things need to be considered before truly prescribing a specific nutrition and exercise regime. At the end of the day, a person should know their goals and what theyre working with before they can expect any potential results. Below Im suggesting Shakeology- and I know its an incredible tool with 70+ ingredients. We talked about how Shakeology could very well be incredible for a majority of people who dont have a natural, holistic diet, but for someone like my Uncle and Aunt who make very deliberate choices at their whole foods store on what goes on in their diet, the shakeology in powder form may make them feel worse. After that discussion, I realized yes this is wonderful for so many people out there who dont have the time, the knowledge, or the taste buds for collecting and drinking these ingredients seperately, but by having the convenience of it in a wonderfully tasting shake form, its success rate is high. Which explains a lot. However, its not necessarily a fit for everyone…
After everything that happened, I not only want to make sure people know to be very careful with what conditions they have, but to also hydrate, to also just be aware that the personal trainers, fitness instructors, beach body coaches, bloggers, etc, really do care that something works truly for you. That it is your fit. Your soul make workout that you’ll stand in line for, or get excited to pop into the dvd machine, and likewise for your diet. Theres definitely tough love involved in getting there, but persisting through the adjustments because you see the whole picture will lead you to be doing the things YOU want to do and the things YOU need. I know I go to the dermatologist for my skin because Im different than everyone else and have symptoms different than others, which affects my prescription. When you go to your personal trainer or seek advice from people, they really should be asking you your history, your goals, your expectations and than can let you know how they may be able to help. They may not be the best fit for you since everyone has different mentalities, theories, styles- but again this is where you “take the matters of your health into your own hands”. The decisions you make are coming from something you are finding important and/or something you like to do. Its just a matter of how realistic each person is being where this falls into if something is working or not.
To continue this topic, I cant go around and just let things happen to me without taking responsibility for what I directly affect. Whether its spilling coffee and ruining my computer, or its being as responsible as possible when emergencies arise and trying to do my best for the people in my classes, or bringing issues like this up in my blog. They may not be FUN and there might not be an adorable recipe involved, but its important. Hopefully you guys can get where Im coming from, take your health into your own hands and make the changes you see fit. Its a fun process afterall, but thats not to take away from how truly serious health is and how we truly need to take it seriously.
Yesterday for example, I got on top of my CPR training which I definitely needed and would highly recommend to everyone! Everything thats happened has made me all that much more conscious of the importance of this certification. In order to do that, I needed a sub for class, and had to get my workout in somehow. So, here I am at work, selling, calling, hot headset right?
My view at work and shakeology to help me recover from Monday’s back to back workouts. Helps me so much!
I then took my lunch to get my workout in at the Y. 30 minutes on elliptical and 30 minutes on the treadmill. One hour of exercise was non negotiable, it was just a matter of making it happen. Thumbs up before!
After the workout, all sweaty! Thumbs up after!
Here was my costar for the night. We met, grew very close throughout the 2 hours, and eventually I saved his life. It was like a Lifetime movie!
My coworker Randi and I. Trying to be as mature as possible throughout the class. Her giggles are contagious!
Yesterday was incredibly productive, from everything at work, to getting my workout in, packing a nutritious lunch and attending the CPR class which will help me feel prepared, and the knowledge will be there in case of an emergency. Through this crazy time of Super Bowl madness, hectic winter weather, and continuing of 2012- hopefully we can own our priorities, stay focused, stay healthy and have a whole lot of of fun as result of proper proper preparation and implementation.
