Cheers Lettuce Heads!
After last weekend’s festivities: Olympic Triathlon, stand up paddleboarding on Sunday, and then instructing 8 classes Monday-Friday I was more than ready for a weekend off. I was tired, carrying water weight, and a bit irritable. Truly a great reminder of what overdoing it can do to our bodies and minds. It wasnt planned- it was more of a “eyes are bigger than my legs”- ie wanting to do more than I can handle physically. If you love to work out and find yourself doing this, Id encourage you to look at why you’re doing this and if its really helping your situation. I was truly happy to have a busy active weekend but the subbing for other instructors was not planned, and in hine sight, I had agreed to too much- but I was committed and went through with my promises. Fortunately I stayed healthy and just had to deal with the aches and pains. And committed to no working out on Saturday and Sunday. I called it “working in”. I focused on eating well, resting, doing what needed to be done with my friends who maybe needed me emotionally, supporting a childhood friend who was getting married to her beloved partner, and celebrating Father’s day with the best dad in the world at Kings Island.
Here are some of the activities I did to “Work In” this weekend:
Hung out with a good friend, and whadya know, found a Performing Beautifully Ad- GO OAKLEY!
Sorry for the scary eyes!
W Randi for Sushi
With the bride to be- such a wonderful woman, love her!
We were actually Ushers- important job! Mad dash towards the end but honored to be a part of it.
My date and other half, Dwight 🙂
And boy did we dance!
Congratulations to Mark and Kristin!
I, too, get caught up in workout gear, fitness gadgets and signing up for the next adrenaline junkie race, but this weekend was true testament to how much rest I really needed. Your body is smart and will tell you to slow down, whether that’s on the scale, your tolerance at your day job, or even how you feel in the morning. I urge you all to listen to any negative symptoms you may be getting from your workouts, and to always nurture your body because it is indeed a temple. Take care of it so it takes care of you. Dont worry, I still believe in working out 5-6x a week normally with a rest day. But because of my atypical schedule last week, I laid back Saturday and Sunday, and by working in vs out, I sure do feel good today.
Until next time,
