I was chatting with a very successful client last night and after talking about whats been working for her, we landed on the importance of having motivational conversations, messages, pictures, etc in the forefront of our lives. Whenever we have a hard time staying true to our “plan”, we’ve not checked in with our WHY recently. I too experience the same effect. As soon as I get done reading chapters and articles that align with my own health, fitness, and self love mantra, Im instantly reminded and inspired to stay on track. This can apply to anything. Motivation at work, in relationships, with your own business, with your family, and especially with health, fitness, & self love goals.
The first step is identifying your why… ie a coach of mine talks about eating in a way that “pleases both your palate and physique”. By reading this Im instantly refreshed as to why I say no to the million things people say yes to, and instead create my own colorful, healthy, delicious assortments that arent easily accessible, but they sure are worth the extra work. The next step is continuing to keep reminders in your forefront so that any extra work, inconveniences, or obstacles are worth pushing through. Its easy to be healthy when its easy… what happens when it becomes hard due to this or that? Lets be honest…thats the reality 95% of the time. Its NOT easy or accessible to prioritize health, fitness, and self love like we all know we should.
Here are some examples of keeping your WHY in your forefront:
1) SOCIAL MEDIA: Log on instagram in between work sets? Follow fitness peeps that inspire you! This can be applied with any social media you dill around on.
2) BRAIN FOOD: Need help setting the tone for the day? Start it off with reading a book or listening to a podcast on the way to work that alligns with your mantra.
3) SUPPORT: Feeling a little weak, struggling, wanting to brag but afraid to come off cocky? Check in with your accountability/support groups every day! They’re there for you without judgement!
4) WEEKLY ACCOUNTABILITY: Furthermore, create an actionable promise to report your progress each week. I do this with my challenge groups, the diet betters had success with this, and we’ll sure as heck be doing this in the 6 week boot camp Im leading in Fishers at Reforming Indy.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, if you take anything away from this, try this:
I urge you to write down not only your goals for the week, for the month, and put it in plain sight, but also hang somewhere, very visibly (your planner, computer screen etc) your health, fitness, and self love mantra. It will help make your decisions throughout your day, week, month, and life much easier. I promise, you’ll have a crazy cool confidence now that you’ve got clarity and conviction on your side.
