“Anxiety is part of creativity, the need to get something out, the need to be rid of something or to get in touch with something within” David Duchovny
So I quoted the X-Files guy…. but what I want to get across here… is that through having this site, I have found an entirely new perspective. Writing a thing or two… sharing it with you all… I’ll tell you that shortly after college graduation, I looked at myself in the mirror and promised myself a change for the better. I needed to be disciplined and simple. Work hard and the results will come. Well the simple formula surely works and I still took it with a lot of aspects. This directly helped me with my sales job, losing weight, and saving money to buy my first home. However, theres truly a balance in being too hard on oneself before you explore a certain flexibility which supplements your success (really in anything).
I choose to talk about this because with this site I can more thoroughly, creatively, and long windedly share my thoughts. Im no official expert. I have experience in my degree, and school and personal background. I get to write, take fun photos, think outside the box when you all ask me questions Ive not tapped into before, and holy cow Im beginning to cook. These were all things Ive been missing and chalked it up to something maybe I can get back into when I have kids or when I have a different job. The perfect example of something Ive been afraid to do is take the time to try out recipes. I felt it was expensive, exhausting, and too many calories a lot of the time. I definitely consider myself a microwave queen…but Im quickly realizing that getting younger isnt in the cards and rarely will I ever have “more time”. So I had another in the mirror moment, told myself to buck up and take the time now.

“An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail.” –Edwin Land
Im writing, snapping photos of colors and shapes (other than my friends on the weekends), and cooking. It feels good. As I reflect, I realize part of being creative is the ability to see your mind in a diverse and open way. Including noting all the wonderful ways you’ve been creating in your everyday life already. I always feel that self pep talks and encouragement are crucial to tackling unchartered territory. Creativity can be in so many formats ie for me:
1) Trying to get a point across to several examples of contractors all looking for something different and all with a different budget
2) Trying out new workouts and making it just as effective as the last one. For me putting together effective workouts, depending heavily on music taste and compilation.
3) Decorating and hosting awesome get togethers so that everyone enjoys themselves
4) Styling oneself wink worthy (winked at, or doing the winking)
These are all things Ive done over the years and havent given myself credit for. As Im sure many of you forget that your creativity isnt just knocking, its always been there. Maybe it just takes another creative outlet like I needed to release that the brainstorming beast has always been there- but its a lot more enjoyable to experience when you give yourself a little pat on the back.
Dont be afraid to try something new, make a little mess in the kitchen, write down something thats on your mind, and if you really feel brave, take a picture and share it with us, wont you!?
