Good Morning Lettuce Heads!
Wanted to give a bit of an update from this week of knee TLC and loads of fun with family and friends. I was back to teaching Friday morning/Monday night with my spin classes. It felt amazing- my classes couldnt have been more wonderful. The energy was packin’ and while I shouldnt expect anything less, it absolutely rocked my world. The sentiments, adrenaline, and release I experienced post class, especially Monday night, affirms why I missed them so much this week. Im going to be careful during Turbo time and my STRIDE routines which are in the next few days, but I have no doubt that the class will more than make up for my caution by kicking their own butts just as hard as they always do.
The bar and yoga classes, as well as Stand Up Paddle boarding, I did were quite a treat and I ended up running into several old faces. Even though I had the normal frustrations and insecurities one might experience when their schedule changes up/upon experiencing an injury, all in all it was an uber refreshing week. I was proud of myself for adjusting, benefitting from some allignment, and moving forward. With this time to reflect, as supposed to shrugging it off and beating my head against a wall, I know there will be more stretching, strength and assessment in my future so that I can maintain the healthy lifestyle Ive so come to appreciate. If anything I got some great examples of how intense and effective some low impact classes can be. Thank you to Invoke Studio for putting on such great workouts, at convenient times, and for being so close to work . You really helped me this week.
My trek bike/trainer was also a huge help, and talk about excitement/motivation…my new shipment of Oakley gear arrived! Revved me right up! The running capri’s, speedburst tights, and continuity tops (tights and top seen here) fit so well and felt so good. I always feel a little more jazzed in my Oakley gear. Im reminded of the great gals I met and know I’ll see soon, the organization Im blessed to be a part of, and their overall mission: To Perform Beautifully.
Here was my package:
The rest of the week/weekend incorporated being on the sidelines for my “No Brakes” Adventure Race Team with the Challenge Nation. Basically a scavenger hunt all over Indianapolis- my team took 30th and it was a perfect day for the event. Amidst the Gen Con and Moto GP, downtown was a great place to be. I didnt race but I sure people watched.
Got to see my brother play some soccer- hes a stud, Marian University, Go Knights!
Family dinner time as they all go back to school!
An engagement party for my dear College friend. So great to get the crew together.
And of course QT with my cutie
Up ahead this week is a consultation with a sport nutritionist and the Chicago Triathlon. There will be plenty to update you all on. Thanks for caring, reading, and inspiring.
Until next time,
Maria “Like the Lettuce” Romaine, xoxo
